Sena demands inquiry into ‘land scams’ during Rane’s tenure

The delegation was led by senior Sena leader Subhash Desai, who submitted a letter to the governor with a list of alleged scams.

“A separate inquiry of land scams by Rane should be conducted. We also want you to instruct the state government that any land deal by him in his capacity as an industry minister should be transparent," Desai said in the letter.

The Sena leader alleged that the state lost revenue of crores of rupees after Rane de-reserved several government plots in favour of individuals or private companies. Interestingly, the Sena is demanding sactions against their own one-time comrade.

Recently the Central Empowered Committee, in its report to the Supreme Court, has recommended Rane’s prosecution for illegal diversion of huge tracts of forest land worth hundreds of crores of rupees to developers in Pune.

The governor assured the delegation that he will take up the issue with the government.
