A Shiv Sena man and brain behind the Shiv Vada Pav scheme, Sanjay Gurav, joined hands with Swabhimaan Sanghatana led by Nitesh Rane, son of Congress leader Narayan Rane, on Thursday. Junior Rane, however, announced in a combined press meet that they would start a new Vada Pav scheme for the unemployed marathi youth in the near future with another name than ‘Chhatrapati’ Vadapav.

“I did not back out from using the name ‘Chhatrapati vada’ because of threats but because the motive of removing illegal Shiv Vada stalls has been served,” said Rane. “Swabhimaan Sanghathana is satisfied with the BMC’s action over Shiv Vada stalls. So we have decided to remove Chhatrapati Vada Pav stalls launched outside Powai Nisarga Garden,” he said. Upset with this, Gurav resigned and approached Nitesh Rane to join the fight against Shiv Vada Pav. He lashed out at the Sena’s Shiv Sahakar Seva Sanstha led by MP Sanjay Raut. “Shiv Sena cheated poor vada pav vendors and collected Rs 55,000 each from 150 stallholders in the city,” Gurav said.
