Seven women rob real estate agent of Rs. 10,000 in BEST bus

After falsely accusing a 45-year-old real estate agent of beating one of their daughters, seven women surrounded the victim, Ashok Dave, inside a BEST bus and robbed him of Rs10,000 at Bandra-Kurla Complex on Monday afternoon.

According to the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) police, Dave, a Malad resident, boarded a double decker BEST bus (route 310 from Kala Nagar junction to Asian Heart Institute) at Kala Nagar junction at around 12.30 pm on Monday. He was going to meet a client at the diamond market in BKC.

Minutes later, at the Family Court bus stop in Bandra (E), around seven women, accompanied by a child each, boarded the bus, and sat on seats close to Dave. A woman sat next to him, with a girl on her lap.

“She asked me to give her daughter something to eat or some money. I smiled and started talking to the child. The woman then asked me to let the child sit on my lap as she wanted to look out the window. I declined politely and stroked the child’s hair,” said Dave.

“After I told the co-passengers about what happened, they said they assumed it was an argument and did not suspect the women had robbed me,” he said.

Dave filed a complaint at the BKC police station. “We have never heard of such an incident of theft before,” said C Bhosale, senior inspector of BKC police.

Bhosale said they would prepare sketches of the women and would also ask the local crime branch if they have come across such a modus operandi, and if the group has robbed others.
