ITC group's Fortune Park Hotels unveiled a 58-room hotel called Fortune Park Lakecity that is housed in the Jupiter Lifeline Hospital building in Thane. This is the first time in India where a hotel has come up in a hospital.

Though the company has plans to cater to corporate guests from around the area, it is designed for patients from overseas who can stay there before and after critical operations. This is Thane's first branded hotel. "We have made history today. This is India's first medical tourism venture. We will be providing a unique kind of service because we will be dealing with patients who will require special care," said Pawan Verma, senior executive vice president, Hotels Division, ITC Ltd.

The hotel with a room rate between Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 per night is different from other hotels in the sense that it will not serve liquor and will not host marriages and celebrations. The hotel is also introducing a concept called health super market where it will sell health drinks and sports equipment.
