Two days after the Supreme Court upheld Alistair Perreira's three-year jail term in a 2006 drink driving case, the Bandra police said they had no clue where Pereira was and they did not need to know it until they received the apex court's order to take him into custody.

"Once we get the apex court orders, we will trace him and take him into custody," said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police (zone 9). He said they were expecting to receive a copy of the order by Monday.

Periera had mowed down 15 people sleeping on a pavement in Bandra (West) in November 2006, of which six had died. Periera, who was driving his father's Corolla, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Following the incident, he was arrested under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (causing injury) of IPC and 185 (drink driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act by the Bandra police.

Pereira and his family had approached the Supreme Court against his conviction. DS Patil, inspector of Bandra police station, said, "Periera will have to surrender to the police and will then be sent to jail custody."

Perreira's ground floor flat at Silver Dee building at Carter Road was locked.
