Armaan Malik: I don’t get attached to awards, but they encourage me to get better

Singer Armaan Malik, who recently won the award for best playback singer at IIFA, says that getting nominated for an award means getting a nod of approval from the fraternity.

Unlike many Bollywood celebrities who don’t give much importance to film awards, singer-songwriter Armaan Malik thinks that these awards encourage him to become a better singer.

“Awards mean a lot to me. I feel rewarded when I get an award, or even when I get nominated. The feeling I get when I hear my name on winning one, is out of this world. These are rare moments and one treasures such memories,” says Armaan, who recently won the award for best playback singer at IIFA.

This singer was nominated for his hit song, Besabriyan, from the film M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), which starred Sushant Singh Rajput. The singer says that he never expected that the song would bag an award. He adds that it became such a hit because people could connect with it.

“In the movie, the song is playing in the background, and Sushant (Dhoni) is running from work to catch a train to go to his practice sessions. People who wanted to achieve their dreams, or something in their lives, could relate to it. I have gone through the same thing. I used to finish my school, and run to Vishal-Shekhar’s [music-composers] studio to record a song for Bhootnath (2008),” shares Armaan.
