People of Delhi are good listeners: Pt. Chaurasia

As the curtains draw on the much celebrated HT Noida First Festival today, a flute recital by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia is sure to leave a lasting impression on the audience. The festival, which kicked off on March 2, celebrates the launch of Hindustan Times Noida.

Pt. Chaurasia, who will be performing in Noida for the first time, is thrilled to take the stage at the festival. “I have performed in Delhi many times. The people of the city are good listeners. They appreciate classical music too,” says Pt. Chaurasia, who has been honoured with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awards in his career.

The Indian classical instrumentalist will be presenting a mix of classical ragas. “There are different ragas befitting for different times of the day. Since the performance is in the evening, I will be playing a set of evening raga compositions,” says Pt. Chaurasia, who was also conferred the title of Officer by the Dutch Royal family at Amsterdam.

The audience will be treated to a musical evening with ragas such as Yaman and other south Indian ragas. “The mood and the tone of the evening depends on the ragas presented,” says Pt. Chaurasia.

While day one of the festival was marked by a hilarious act at the Haasya Kavi Sammelan by Hindi author and poet Ashok Chakradhar, the following day left the audience in splits at the stand up comedy acts by artists such as Abish Mathew, Sanjay Rajoura, Sorabh Pant and Varun Thakur.
Another well-attended evening was the concert by ghazal singer Pankaj Udhaas on March 10.
