Rajnath, who was in the city on Saturday said, “We allowed the Pakistani probe team to visit the airbase as a gesture of goodwill, but the neighbouring country again betrayed us. Even after five months of the attack, they are not allowing our National Investigation Agency (NIA) team to visit their country as the agency has ample proof of Pakistan’s hand in the attack,” said the home minister.

The minister claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had left no stone unturned in improving relations with Pakistan but the latter was not willing to play ball. “PM Modi has been trying to improve relations with neighbouring countries, but we have not received a positive response from Pakistan,” he said.

The Union minister also shot back at Pakistan for bringing up the Kashmir issue on international forums. “Pakistan talks about Kashmir on every international platform. Instead of that issue, it is PoK which needs to be discussed,” he said.

Rajnath also attacked the former UPA government, claiming that during its tenure, the Congress-led alliance indulged in large-scale corruption. He lauded PM Modi for facilitating India’s economic growth and said the country was on track to surpass many nations. “At 7.6%, India is the fastest-growing economy and we even hope to come closer or even surpass the US if this trend continues. We believe in procedural and structural development and our aim is to provide corruption-free and good governance,” he said.

Later, the home minister took part in a function of BJP workers which was attended by minister of state for defence Rao Inderjit Singh and party’s national vice-president Satpal Malik.
