Senior superintendent of police (SSP) K S Emmanuel, a 2003 batch IPS officer, took over as the new police head of Ghaziabad district on Wednesday. He took over from Dharmendra Singh who will move to neighbouring Gautam Budh Nagar district.

Emmanuel on Wednesday said he will take a strict note of crime against women and will take up such cases on priority. He has ordered lodging of FIRs in all such cases on priority.
“We will ensure a zero tolerance policy against any form of corrupt practices undertaken by our staff. Things will also be explained to each and every police officer during coming days. The postings at police stations will be strictly on merit. The officials will also have to abide by the state government directions to remain available between 10am and 12pm for hearing public grievances,” the SSP said.
He said a selected group of officers in the district would be tasked with tackling cyber and financial fraud cases.
“Such cases need specialised investigation and proper officers will be chosen to tackle such cases. A drive will also be launched against chain-snatchers,” he said.
