Noida: Missing girls traced to Patna, found in inebriated condition

The girls had called their parents from a cellphone on Tuesday night, which helped to trace their location, the police said.

Two minor girls who went missing from their residence in Sector Pi-1 of Greater Noida on Monday were traced to Patna on Wednesday, the police said.

The girls had called their parents from a cellphone on Tuesday night, which helped to trace their location, the police said.

Jitendra Singh, the station house officer of Kasna police station, said, “On Tuesday night, one of the girls made a phone call to her father, but the sound was not clear as they were calling from the moving train. The phone went offline from then. An hour later, her father was able to make a call to the same number but a man on the other side informed him that the girls had borrowed his phone to make a call. He told that the girls got down at Danapur railway station, which is 30 kilometres from Patna.”

They got down from the Howrah-bound Himgiri Express and were spotted roaming aimlessly and under the influence of some drug in Patna, the police said. The Patna police took the girls into custody, during which one of the girls was able to recollect her father’s cellphone number, after which their parents were informed about their whereabouts, the police said.

A Noida police officer said, “The girls travelled in a bus from Greater Noida and were then found to be travelling in Himgiri Express. Further details may be revealed once the girls are brought back here.”

The girls, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, had gone to a nearby market from their homes in a Greater Noida apartment to get a study material photocopied but did not return, following which their families lodged a complaint with Kasna police station.

The two girls hail from Kerala and Bihar, respectively, and have been living in Greater Noida for a few years. Both are students of Kendriya Vidyalaya.
