The Noida police imposed a fine of ₹19,000 on two private companies and seized a tractor for allegedly flouting pollution norms set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday.

The first incident was reported from Phase 2 on Monday afternoon.

“We saw smoke from some distance. When we reached the spot, it was found that discarded air filters of some vehicles were being burnt. We investigated and found that a nearby vehicles service centre discarded the filters and burnt them,” Shailendra Pratap Singh, station house officer of Noida Phase 2 police station, said.

He said a fine of ₹14,000 was imposed on the company for burning discarded goods in the open.

“The company was warned of strict action if found repeating the same. They were advised to dispose such discarded items scientifically without burning it in the open,” Singh said.

Another incident was reported from Sector 49 area where station house officer Bijendra Singh Bhadana was patrolling with a team to find violators.

A fine of ₹5,000 was slapped on the company. It was also warned of more action if the offence was repeated.

Late on Monday evening, station house officer of Sector 24 found a tractor that was emitting excess smoke. The vehicle’s documents were checked and its was found that it was registered over 15 years ago.

“As there is a complete ban on old diesel vehicles, the tractor was seized. It will not be allowed to ply anymore,” Vinay Prakash Singh, station house officer, Sector 24 police station, said.
