The Bihar State Lawyers’ Association on Tuesday threatened to boycott court proceedings on February 12 and 13 if the Centre did not withdraw the amendment in Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) immediately.

Association president Ramesh Prasad Singh said the amendment in section 41 and 309 of the CrPC and section 2E of the Limited Liability Partnership Act was arbitrary.
Earlier, the members of Bihar Yuva Adhiwakta Kalyan Samiti and District Advocates Association staged a demonstration and dissociated themselves from judicial work. The members, led by Samiti president Om Prakash Tiwari and general secretary Digambar Singh and campaign committee president ML Jamuar, took out a procession in the state capital. They also burnt a copy of the amended CrPC on Ashok Raj Path.
They claimed that the strike was a complete success in Patna Civil Court, Patna City, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Aurangabad, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Jamui and other parts of the state.
