Incredible drama in New Delhi, and you have to say IPL 2026 is up and running! With DC’s backs against the wall, David Miller produced a hitting display right out of the top shelf to bring it down to 2 from 2. But it wasn’t game over, and a couple of errors gifted the win and the two points, by a solitary run, to Gujarat Titans. Mukesh Kumar removed Sai Sudharsan early, and DC would have been happy to bring in out-of-sorts Jos Buttler. But needing to find some runs, Buttler took advantage of a flat deck and the small confines of Arun Jaitley Stadium. He exploded through the powerplay, tonking five sixes to reach his half-century. Kuldeep Yadav would end his night with the bat – but he had a role to play yet.(PTI)

Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar both reached fifty as well over the course of a 104-run partnership. For the under-pressure Sundar, it was the first of his IPL career, and will reinstill confidence in his place at number four in the team. A couple of big overs saw GT potentially targeting 230.(Hindustan Times)

In the death, DC pulled things back – Lungi Ngidi is currently looking like the best fast-bowler in the T20 format in world cricket, and he delivered another miserly spell thanks to his dipping, spitting slower ball, plus the wicket of Gill to boot. Natarajan did his part, and GT finished on 210/4.(PTI)

DC’s chase began with their two classy opening batters looking absolutely sublime. Pathum Nissanka was the aggressor through the powerplay, allowing KL Rahul time to settle: the duo finally had a strong partnership, addressing a problem area for the Capitals over the last year or so. They put together 76 runs in 8 overs, keeping in touch with the rate and looking confident.(PTI)
