Photos: From tribal products to vintage cars, Gurugram boasts a wide range of artefacts

Despite being a relatively new city, Gurugram boasts of a wonderful collection of ancient and historical artefacts, from tribal products to vintage cars. HT’s photographer Sanjeev Verma visited the museums and galleries, giving an insight of the places.

Artefacts seen inside Tribal and folk museum in Gurugram. The museum was set up in 1984 by renowned modern painter and sculptor, the late KC Aryan, at his residence in Sector 4. Artefacts of the Gaddis and Gujars from North India and Bhils, Maria, Muriya and Gond from Bastar and Chhattisgarh are at the museum, besides that of Kutiya Kondh in Odisha. D.C.Ahuja shows antique coins and currency collection at his residence in Gurugram. Ahuja has been collecting coins since his childhood and became an ardent collector in 2013, after attending a coins and notes exhibition in New Delhi. The jeep brothers - Krishna Mohan and Madan Mohan started collecting World War-2 jeeps and own a collection of 42 rare jeeps. There are some jeeps that belonged to princely states and were used by maharajas for hunting. Also, the jeeps were among the chief machines that helped America win the World War-2. America manufactured 6,28,000 jeeps during the war and a large number of them were sent to India on the land-lease agreement, as America was a British ally. (Sanjeev Verma / HT Photo)
