Chayote, also known as chow-chow, is a plant that belongs to the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. It is grown in Madurai and Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh and entire north-eastern region. In the east and northeastern states of India, it is known as squash. This fruit is not very famous in regions it is not grown in but has several health benefits.
