Guru Arjan Dev, fifth of the 10 Sikh Gurus, compiled the Guru Granth Sahib on the bank of Ramsar sarovar (one of the five holy tanks of Amritsar) in the vicinity of the Golden Temple with the help of his devoted disciple Bhai Gurdas.
