Delhiites and those living in the national capital's adjoining cities of Gurugram and Noida were given a much-needed relief on Wednesday after heavy rains lashed the region. However, the downpour led to widespread waterlogging across the cities and massive traffic jams. Low-lying as well as residential areas in Delhi got inundated, with people requiring to wade through almost waist-deep water to make movements. Traffic snarls were reported in various stretches across the NCR after vehicles suffered breakdowns. The Delhi Traffic Police issued alerts on Twitter, apprising citizens of the roads they need to avoid due to either bus breakdowns or waterlogging. Furthermore, flight services were hit after at least 40 were delayed and seven were diverted to other cities. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), has meanwhile, predicted more rain for the rest of the day and continued showers in Delhi's neighbouring states of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for Thursday as well.
