A group of influential people came together on the occasion of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar’s fifth death anniversary which was observed in Pune and many programmes were organised for the same on Monday.
"The songs that we heard today have pierced the hearts of the people present here. The place where we have gathered is the same place where our representative was lying in a pool of blood. Who were these people who felt the need to kill the man who urged people to have good thoughts? No matter how much we protest and how many ever people are arrested, our man will not return and the void will remain. The only way to pay tribute is to keep doing the good work," said Sonali Kulkarni, actor while addressing the group of protesters near Omkareshwar temple.
“Today, we mark the fifth anniversary since Dabholkar’s murder. What progress was made in the five years? The second arrest in Dabholkar’s case has spread a sense of assured positive developments in the case. But I feel like this is just the beginning. It takes five years for two arrests. Is this going to be the decided pace of investigation?,” said Amol Palekar, actor and director.
He also said that regardless of which political party and ideology gets involved in the process, the attacks of rationalists should stop.

{{/usCountry}}On the theme of ‘do not forget the sacrifices’, Tushar Gandhi, great grandson of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi said, “We have a history of wasting sacrifices as a country. From Bhagat Singh to every single sacrifice since then, it has been wasted as generations that followed have not been loyal to the cause of their sacrifice. ”
