Constable from Pune’s Chandannagar police station arrested for rape
According to police, the rapes took place between May 27, 2017 and April 15, 2019, at Lohegaon, Kharadi and Ghorpadigaon.
A police constable attached to the Chandannagar police station has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 24-year-old woman. According to the complaint, lodged at the Mundhwa police station on Tuesday, the accused raped the victim on the promise of marriage.

The accused policeman, identified as Sachin Rajaram Koli (33), a resident of Pankaj Asman Society, is also charged with stealing documents and extorting a sum of Rs 1.85 lakh from the victim. The accused has been arrested and remanded in police custody till April 25.
According to police, the rapes took place between May 27, 2017 and April 15, 2019, at Lohegaon, Kharadi and Ghorpadigaon.
According to investigators, Koli is married and has a daughter. He befriended the victim as he knew her uncle very well. The friendship later turned into a physical relationship wherein the accused said that he did not get along with his wife and promised to marry the victim after his divorce. However, he did not divorce his wife.
He kept the victim hanging on to a promise that he would elope with her, until he refused to meet her and claimed no relationship with her in the end. At this point, the victim filed a police complaint.
The police have filed a case under Indian Penal Code 376 (rape), 377,406, 506(1) and 504.
Police inspector Sampat Bhosale said, “We have arrested the accused who knew the victim’s uncle. He had promised marriage, but it did not happen.”
