Court orders gangster Marane to be moved from Pune’s Yerwada jail to Satara

In February, Marane approached the court through his lawyer Vijaysinh Thombre, with an allegation of bribery against Yerwada Central Jail superintendent UT Pawar.

Gangster Gajanan Marane will be immediately transferred from Yerwada central jail to a jail in Satara. An order, signed by judicial magistrate first class JS Kelkar, released on Friday, directed Jail Superintendent, Yerwada, Pune, “to transfer accused Gajanan Pandharinath Marane to Satara jail immediately and send report to this court.”

Until December 25, 2018, Marane was in Kolhapur central jail in Kalamb, Kolhapur. He was transferred to Yerawada on administrative grounds. In February, Marane approached the court through his lawyer Vijaysinh Thombre, with an allegation of bribery against Yerwada Central Jail superintendent UT Pawar. Pawar refuted the claims and in his written response.
