SpiceJet started two new daily operations flights; Ahmedabad-Pune-Jaipur and Bengaluru-Pune-Ahmedabad, while Indigo commenced a Pune-Bengaluru direct flight, while Air Asia launched a direct flight to Delhi.

According to airport officials, the reason for new flight operations being frequently added to the city airport, is the above average passenger occupancy from Pune to all connecting destinations.

Ajay Kumar, director,Pune airport, said, “We are hoping full passenger occupancy in these flights.”

With the addition of new SpiceJet flight to Jaipur, there are now a total of three daily flights connecting Pune with Jaipur. The other two flights connecting Pune to Jaipur are run by Indigo and Air Asia.

Officials said,“The new commencement of flights has no connection with the cancellation of 18 Jet Airways flights from the city. Airlines have to seek the slot availability at least a month prior to beginning operations.”

Slots that were with the Jet Airways have been allocated to other airlines, the schedule of which is yet to be announced, said officials.

Meanwhile,150 staff members of Jet Airways working in the city are yet to receive their pending salaries for the last two months.
