The Pimpri-Chinchwad police nabbed three people for stealing gold worth Rs1 crore from a courier company in February.
The police recovered a Maruti Suzuki S-Cross car (MP09CW1409) and 731 grammes of gold biscuits worth Rs25 lakh from the arrested men. They are on the lookout for four others involved in the robbery. The complaint was lodged by Deepak Saini, 24, at the Wakad police station. According to Saini, the incident took place on February 14, when he was travelling from Hyderabad to Mumbai in a private bus. The accused men had alighted the bus at a hotel in Punawale, and stole the bag carrying valuables, which was kept under his seat.
According to Bhanudas Jadhav, senior police inspector of Unit 2 of Pimpri-Chinchwad police crime branch, the accused have been identified as Mushtak Samsher Khan, 31, a resident of Itawa, Madhya Pradesh; Rajendra Harishchandra Soni, 38, and Ismail Babu Khan, 33, both residents of Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
Satish Kamble, assistant police inspector, Unit 2 of Pimpri-Chinchwad police crime branch, received a tip-off that the accused men are from Madhya Pradesh.
With the help of closed circuit television (CCTV) footage, a team of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police crime branch set a trap for eight days, and arrested Mushtak Khan on Monday. Harishchandra Soni and Ismail Khan were arrested on April 30. The accused have several cases registered against them in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
