A bus passenger lodged a complaint against the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) at the Katraj police station after his trouser suffered a tear because of a broken seat. He has demanded for a compensation of ₹1,000.

Sanjay Shitole, 37, a resident of Bibvewadi, is a mechanical engineer who runs a firm called Faith Quality Services in Hinjewadi. On Wednesday morning, around 9.30am, he had taken PMPML Bus No.43 and was on his way towards Hinjewadi when his trouser suffered a tear due to a protruding metal strip on the seat’s handrest.
Shitole said,”I lodged a police complaint against the PMPML administration for running an unsafe bus. My trouser tore because of a broken seat and I have also demanded a compensation of ₹1,000 from PMPML. Before this, we have raised many issues related to unsafe PMPML buses with the help of PMPML Pravasi Manch. Now, this complaint is a message to PMPML for ignoring safety.” According to Shitole’s statement, the bus also did not have a fire extinguisher, first aid box or an emergency exit.
