Pune’s gangland shootings: 3 hits in 48 hours

In a third shooting incident in Pune district within 48 hours, a 34-year-old former Shiv Sena worker and resident of Gavali Matha, Bhosari, was seriously injured after shots were fired at him by unidentified persons on the morning of September 16.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Vijay Pandurang Gholap and he was hit in the abdomen with gun shots.

Speaking to Hindustan Times about these three shooting incidents, Pune region deputy commissioner of police, zone 3,Ganesh Shinde, said,‘‘There is no need to worry about security, because Friday’s incident happened between gangsters.As far as this case is concerned our teams are investigating. We will solve this case soon. There is no threat to security.”
According to police, in this incident, Vijay is the owner of a snack centre at Gavali Matha and was busy opening his snack centre when two unknown accused, riding on a two-wheeler wearing helmets, shot at him from behind. Five shots were fired and bullets hit Vijay’s waist,hand and stomach.
Vijay is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chinchwad. The exact cause of the firing is still not known and the Bhosari Police are investigating case. Bhosari Police have registered a complaint and a case under Sections 302, 307 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act .
The police have taken preventive action to maintain law and order in the area, while two teams of the Bhosari Police have been deployed to look for the suspects, using CCTV footage and mobile call tracking, according to senior police inspector Bhimrao Shingade.
Shingade said,‘‘According to preliminary investigations some animosity was the reason behind the firing on Vijay. We are also investigating if money lending was involved.”
In the earlier two incidents, Pappu alias Sushant Laxman Satpute, a 25-year -old criminal, was shot dead at around 8.15pm in Kolvan village under the Paud police jurisdiction on Thursday. A person identified as Ravindra Satpute was also injured in the fight. Then on Friday evening, Santosh Ashok Kurawat, a 33-yea -old local gangster, was shot at while he was having tea near Sadhu Vaswani garden in Pimpri.One bullet grazed his head while another hit his leg,according to the police.
In the case of Santosh Ashok Kurawat, the police have arrested four persons including the main accused Vicky Sutar (23) from Malval.
