The Supreme Court has rejected the interim bail application of Shirish Kulkarni, son of jailed real estate developer D S Kulkarni (DSK). Shirish along with his father DSK , mother Hemanti and seven others are accused in a Rs 2,000-crore investor fraud case.
Earlier, the Bombay High Court on June 15 had also rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Shirish in a case of cheating lodged by a depositor in the DSK Group of companies. The court had however granted him interim protection till June 18 to enable him to appeal in the higher court. Shirish was the executive director in D S Kulkarni Developers Limited (DSKDL) and a director in other partnership firms, and has been accused of playing an important role in divesting depositors’ money, according to investigation carried out by the economic offences wing (EOW) of the Pune police.
High Court Justice Sadhana Jadhav, while hearing his bail application, said that Shirish cannot disassociate himself from the DSK brand and the court was not interested in hearing the argument over his pre –arrest bail plea. The court had earlier directed Shirish to either withdraw his pre-arrest bail application or it face the order based on the merit of the case.
