The German company, Dorsch Group which has been appointed for the research on Purandar airport has now been assigned the job of acquiring an environmental clearance from the central government before September 14 by Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC).
Dorsch Group will undertake a study and present it to the ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEF) by September 14, according to Suresh Kakani, managing director of MADC.
“A consultant will be undertaking a study, as a part of the process to acquire the environmental clearance. The responsibility has been assigned to the company which specialises in airport research and they have already initiated the process," said Kakani.
Information about the places named in the land acquisition notice will be collected and a study of the impact of the airport on the environment will be conducted. A resultant report has to be submitted before September 14. It may be submitted anytime before the deadline.
Kakani said the company will decide as to who will be part of the study.
Land has to be acquired from seven villages for the construction of the airport. The villagers have strongly opposed the whole idea even before the land acquition notice was given and MADC was announced as the special planning authority of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport in Purandar. The government is in the process of initiating a dialogue with the village residents and land owners.
