“In India, we face multiple challenges related to the water and sanitation sector. Not only is the availability of clean water challenging, but also its management and quality are issues. In urban and rural areas alike, clean drinking water and sanitation facilities need major improvements. For these improvements to take place, knowledge about science and engineering needs to spread faster. That is why SPPU has collaborated with the world’s best institute in these fields, IHE Delft and Unity Knowledge. This MoU will bring in a range of short courses as well as research opportunities and an international quality laboratory testing facility,” Karmalkar said

The online courses on Faecal Sludge Management will begin from the first week of November, while offline courses will be availble from next year onwards.

The announcement for the MoU was made by the SPPU vice-chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar, on Monday, in the presence of Dr Eddy Moors, rector of IHE Delft and Dr Nemanja Trifunovic, deputy head of environmental engineering and water technologies. Founder of Unity Knowledge, Anagha Pathak, and chairman and managing director of Unity Consultants, Mahesh Pathak, were also present.
