The full onset of the monsoon in Pune is now delayed until June 21, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), who have forecast just a spell or two of rain until then.

The full onset of the monsoon in Pune is now delayed until June 21, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), who have forecast just a spell or two of rain until then.

According to the IMD, as of June 15, the further advance of the southwest monsoon is not likely during the next one week due to the  prevalence of a weak monsoon pattern. (Ravindra Joshi/HT PHOTO)

According to the IMD, as of June 15, the further advance of the southwest monsoon is not likely during the next one week due to the prevalence of a weak monsoon pattern.

Officials from the IMD said, "On June 16 and June 17, heavy rainfall is being forecast at a few places in Konkan and Goa, and at very few parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha. Heavy rainfall is not likely in most parts of central Maharashtra during this period, including Pune. On June 18 and June 19, heavy rainfall is likely in parts of central Maharashtra, but Pune is likely to receive just one or two spells of rain during this time. Few parts of central Maharashtra are likely to get heavy rainfall between June 19 and June 21, but heavy rainfall has not been predicted for Pune till June 21."
