Pune One member among the three motorcycle-borne youths opened fire at a youth from a pistol near Changbhal Auto Garage near Bhosari Sahal Kendra near Phuge Mane Talim at 4 pm on Friday. The police have detained a youth in connection with the incident. The injured victim has been identified as Pankaj Kantaram Phuge and admitted to Dnanyeshwar Hospital in Bhosari while the detained youth has been identified as Ajinkya Mane. Many senior police officials, including crime branch sleuths, visited the spot after the incident. A sniffer dog squad was also pressed into action.
According to the police, Pankaj along with one of his cousin and friend were busy chatting near the Phuge Talim when Ajinkya and two other youths came riding on a motorcycle. There was an alteration between the motorcycle borne youths and Pankaj after which Ajinkya opened fire. The bullet fired from the pistol pierced the back of Pankaj and he was rushed to the hospital.
An FIR has been lodged in connection with the case at Bhosari police station. The Bhosari police maintained that the incident could be a fallout of an old rivalry between the duo. Further investigations are being carried out by the Detection Branch (DB) of the police station.
