The Ludhiana (rural) police on Sunday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 10-kg of poppy husk and 500-gm opium from his possession.

The police have registered a case against him under section 15,18,61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been identified as Meva Singh of Kular village.
Sub-inspector Raman Inder Singh and ASI Nirmal Singh of special cell had put up a naka along with the police party at Jassowal village on Sunday. The police stopped a suspect and after frisking him the police recovered 10-kg poppy husk from a polythene bag that he was holding in his hand and 500-gm opium was recovered from his pocket.
Sub-inspector Raman Inder Singh said the police would produce the accused before the court on Monday and would question him on how and from where he got the narcotics.
