67-yr-old retired principal commits suicide in Moga

A retired principal allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his home in Sardar Nagar here on Sunday.

A retired principal allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his home in Sardar Nagar here on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Devinder Singh Sidhu, 67, retired principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Baghapurana, in Moga district.

According to the deceased's wife, her husband had been suffering from diseases relating to kidney, heart, high blood pressure. She has not mentioned any specific problem in her statement to the police.

According to family members, the principal had been suffering with harmful disease for past several years.

Sukhdev Singh, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the city south police station, said that the police have recovered a suicide note in which the "principal has written that nobody is responsible for his death. He is taking this step due to my prolonged illness. However, we are investigation the entire matter," said the ASI.

Police officials further said, "We are waiting for the postmortem report conducted by a panel of doctors of Dr Mathura Dass Pahwa civil hospital."
