In the ongoing probe into the murder of army school teacher, the Panchkula police are on the hunt of a male friend of the victim, who they say, has been missing since her murder on Thursday. Sources said that the person in question was in continuous touch with deceased Reena Devi.
“He too is said to have called her number several times before her murder and his interrogation could give an important lead to the probe in solving the murder mystery,” said a senior official.
39-year-old Reena Devi was found dead in her car with at least 25 stab wounds on her body hours after she had gone to buy pizza with her 15-year-old son in Panchkula’s Sector 20 market on Thursday night.
The police, sources said, was working on multiple theories, one which points a finger at the victim’s husband. He was not living with her family and rather putting up in Baddi where he was employed in a private factory. He retired from army as Subedar last year.
Mohit Handa, SHO of Chandimandir police station, where this case is registered, said that they were not discounting anyone at this stage. “We have already spoken to nearly 150 people during the interrogation and will soon crack this case,” he added
What has been perplexing the police is why the woman’s younger son did not immediately raise the alarm after she went missing with her car from the market on Thursday night only to be found brutally murdered later inside her vehicle. Police, it is learnt, have questioned the son, but there is no any headway so far.

Three teams working on the case
As many as three teams, including one of Chandimandir police station, and the other two of crime branch are involved in the case’s investigation.
Sources said that the police have recovered the knife used to commit the crime from the victim’s car
The weapon has been sent to the government lab in Madhuban, Karnal, to identify the finger prints. So far, the police suspect it a spontaneous crime in which someone known to the victim might be involved in killing her.
