A local court sent druglord Jagdish Singh Bhola in seven-day police remand after the Jalandhar rural police brought him here in a clandestine manner on Tuesday night.
The rural police, on Wednesday, said Bhola was brought from the Nabha jail in connection with seizure of 1-kg heroin, a case regarding which was registered at Lambra police station on December 24 last. The police had arrested two other accused in the case and Bhola's name had cropped up during the investigation.
The rural police would interrogate from Bhola in this case till January 14, the last date of custody.
Secret affair
It seems that the Jalandhar rural police did not want to give Bhola any chance to speak to mediapersons as the entire process of bringing him from the Nabha jail on production warrant late on Tuesday night for producing him in a local court was done in a secrete manner.
After media got a tip-off that Bhola was being brought by the police to the city, all top officials, including inspector general of police, senior superintendent of police, SP, DSP and in-charge of CIA staff, either kept their phones switched off or kept themselves busy and did not pick calls of mediapersons on Tuesday night.
The police took Bhola to the civil hospital for medical examination and later took him to an undisclosed place for intensive questioning.

But sources said the rural police were under pressure to keep the entire exercise of bringing Bhola from Nabha to a local court a secret affair as the druglord had announced that he would reveal the names of three ministers of Majha, Doaba and Malwa regions.
He had already named Majithia, who belongs to the Majha region, and wanted to reveal the identity of a leader from Doaba, who, he alleged, is another kingpin in his multi-crore drug racket.
