A complaint in this regard was moved to Station House Officer (SHO) of sadar police station by Jaswant Kaur, mother-in-law of the victim, a resident of Pholriwal village.

"My daughter-in-law gave birth to a dead child at a Jalandhar cantt based private hospital because of the negligence of health department officials. Firstly by Dr Gayatri and staff nurse Sunita at Jamsher primary health centre and then by Dr Varinder Kaur and staff nurses Renu Bala and Jyoti at the civil hospital," she said in her complaint.

"We took Gurminder to primary health centre at Jamsher on July 2 at 10pm. The staff on duty referred us to Civil Hospital, Jalandhar by calling a 108-ambulance. Nobody at the civil hospital attended us after admitting the patient. When we approached them for medical assistance, the staff on duty scolded us by saying that they know better what to do," she said.

Meanwhile, Sadar Police station SHO Onkar Singh Brar, when contacted, said, "As the matter pertained to July 2 and July 3, we need to investigate the claims of the complainant. Suitable action would be taken after conducting an enquiry."
