Burglaries continue to plague Royal City

After theft incidents on Saturday and Sunday, burglars struck again at two houses in the area on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

According to area residents, after being perturbed by repeated attempts of burglary, they met police commissioner Ishwar Singh on Monday and requested him to enhance night patrolling in the area. The police commissioner had assured them of looking into the matter.

According to Kuldeep Singh Makkar, president of Royal City Welfare Society, the colony residents were awakened by noises and realised burglars had struck again at a house and decamped with the handbag of a woman, who lived as a paying guest in there.

Makkar said later he went to check the locked house of his brother, Hari Singh Makkar, who is an NRI and settled in Belgium. He was shocked to see the locks broken and the house ransacked. Makkar said his brother would arrive on Wednesday and only he could estimate the loss in the incident.

The burglars were caught on the CCTV cameras installed in the locality. The locals have filed a complaint with Salem Tabri police station in this context. A police team, including a dog squad, investigated at the spot and collected clues about the accused.
