Cash and valuables worth Rs 7.5 lakh stolen from house of SAD sarpanch

A gang of burglars struck at Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) sarpanch Sukhwinder Singh’s house at Naginder Nagar on Tuesday night and decamped with Rs 7.50 lakh in cash and other valuables.

No family member was present at the house. On being informed, the Basti Jodhewal police reached the spot and initiated investigation.

Sukhwinder Singh told police that he, along with his son, went out for some work in the morning. Later, his wife went to the hospital with their ailing daughter. All of them were shocked to see the ransacked house when they reached home on Tuesday night.

Assistant commissioner of police (East) Saurav Jindal said, “Police have been scanning the footage of close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to identify burglars. Forensic team and dog squad of police have also been deployed to find clues.”
