Lapran was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody on Wednesday, who is among six Congressmen booked for clash with Youth Akali Dal (YAD) activists over the ‘chitta’ Ravana controversy, in Ludhiana.
Bittu and other Congress leaders had on Wednesday barged into police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh’s office and pasted stickers ‘Proud to be Akali’ on the walls.
The Congress workers demanded suspension of the Ludhiana police commissioner.
The chief minister personally met the protesters and assured them prompt justice.
Badal ordered director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora to initiate immediate inquiry into the matter and send the report within three days, after which Arora immediately left for Ludhiana.
