City hosts filmfest on environment, wildlife

A three-day film festival on environment and wildlife is being organised by the department of mass communication and video production (MCVP) in DAV College.

A three-day film festival on environment and wildlife is being organised by the department of mass communication and video production (MCVP) in DAV College in collaboration with department of botanical and environmental sciences (GNDU) in association with CMS Vatavaran and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST).

This festival is being hosted at ten different venues of the city, including DAV College.

Sandeep Srivastav, head coordinator of CMS Vatavaran was chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the festival. DAV college principal KN Kaul and Arif Nazir, head of MCVP department and event coordinator welcomed the guest on the occasion.

Dr Kaul appreciated the efforts of CMS to organise such motivating events related to environment awareness and preserving diversity.

Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Srivastav said, "I am always ready to work harder in order to preserve nature and biodiversity. The aim behind organising such events is to find out more amateur environmentalists by connecting back to the nature".

The event commenced with three sessions which screened different films namely 'Shifting Undercurrents-Women Seaweed collectors of Gulf of Mannar', 'Tiger Dynasty' and the 'Moor'.
