The exclusive sport and said to be a game of royals, 'Polo' will be reviving once again with 'The Spring Polo Carnival-14' that will be held in the city in March, 2014.
'Wedding Asia-13' exhibition organised in the city brought this royal game to the city along with bridal outfits and accessories. The information stall of the 'Spring Polo' attracted the youth in large numbers.
The first-ever series of this sport will be held under the banner of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh Polo Premier Challenge from March 7 to 9, 2014 at the polo ground being developed at Ireo Waterfront township in the city.
Chief executive officer of Excelsior Public Relations, who owns the Wedding Asia brand and one of the organisers of the polo event, Maninder Singh Sethi, said, "This will be the first polo carnival in free Punjab, as it was earlier held in 1920's." He said this event would help carrying Punjab's rich legacy ahead.
The polo lovers are excited over the spring polo carnival. A visitor to the exhibition, Amreek Singh, said he found this carnival an interesting concept. He said while his wife enjoyed shopping, he utilised the time gaining information about the event. The interest shown by the visitors made organisers feel to open an academy for polo.

{{/usCountry}}Another visitor Akash Bansal found this event very exciting. He said such events would add to the charm of the city as well as sports. While a city resident who visited the exhibition, Rishi Dada, also showed his interest in the tournament and said such tournaments would not only stimulate interest in outdoor games, but would bring fame to the city for hosting the most elite event.
The horse has figured predominately in all environs associated with Punjab's history, including wars, martial arts and social as well as equestrian events.
Private club teams will participate in events, including Jodhpur, Hyderabad, and Sahara group, etc.
When the city will resound with the hoofbeats of galloping horses coupled with the thump of mallets striking wooden balls, those who will be having urge to play this royal game will be given chance.
"During equestrian game, when onlookers will feel like to be a part of the event, mallets will be handed to them to strike the ball, but riding on bicycles not on horses," said Maninder Sethi. This would be done to enhance their taste for this royal sport, he added.
