Congress councillor who is also the leader of opposition Hemraj Aggarwal, senior deputy leader of opposition Rakesh Prashar and deputy leader of opposition Sushma Mehta among other councillors were also present during the protest.

The councillors demanded that the house meeting had been delayed to such an extent that most of the developmental works in all zones had literally come to a standstill.

They also demanded that developmental charges by the MC should be taken back.

"There should be no property tax for city residents," Aggarwal said.

The MC officials asked councillors to hold a meeting with corporation commissioner RK Verma. However, the councillors refused to it saying that first a date for the MC house meeting should be announced following which they would meet the commissioner.
