Complainant Munish Manhas, who lives in Mohali, alleged the assailants also opened fire at them. Police have recovered live cartridges from the scene and are searching for the youths, who claimed to have belonged to Bapu Dham Colony in Chandigarh.

The girls had gone to a pool party at North Park, where the two youths allegedly misbehaved with them.

When the party got over around midnight, the two youths allegedly intercepted the group at the gate.

Munish said the two were on a Bajaj Pulsar bike and said they belonged to Bapu Dham Colony. They had allegedly called a dozen aides too. “One of them slapped one of the girls. My 15-year-old cousin was also beaten up,” he said. Munish said he requested them to get aside, but they did not budge and one of them even pulled out a pistol and fired at them.

“We could have been hit too. As the resort’s security guards came out, they fled,” he said. Windshield of the complainant’s car was also damaged in the attack.

‘Police reached late’

Munish alleged police were late in reaching the spot. “Even the cops in the police control room (PCR) vehicle parked near the resort weren’t of much help,” he said. “I told them we had been attacked and fired at, but we were told to go to the nearby police station.”

Chandimandir station house officer (SHO) Lalit Kumar claimed they reached the spot as soon as they were informed about the incident. The two unknown youths have been booked under Sections 341(wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) of the Indian Penal Code besides relevant sections of the Arms Act. “The hunt is on to nab the accused,” said the SHO.
