Death of 27-year-old: Deceased's kin accuse police of inaction, block road

Alleging police inaction in the death case of 27-year-old Mishu Kiran Kalia, the deceased's kin staged protest and blocked the road in front of Pavilion Malls near Old Session Chowk on Monday afternoon.

Alleging police inaction in the death case of 27-year-old Mishu Kiran Kalia, the deceased's kin staged protest and blocked the road in front of Pavilion Malls near Old Session Chowk on Monday afternoon.

The protest, which continued for at least two hours, was later lifted after police officials reached the spot and pacified the protestors.

The kin of protestors appealed the commuters to join the protest for justice and also raised slogans against the police. Meanwhile, the protestors also indulged in an argument with the police officials, who reached at the spot.

Mishu Kiran Kalia had died under mysterious circumstances a day before Diwali. His body was found near Pavilion Mall. The police had assumed it as road side mishap and had filed the proceedings under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Deceased's father Ashwani Kalia said his son was with his friends a few hours before his death. He alleged that his friends had offered him liquor and later dumped the body near Pavilion Mall after giving the killing a shape of road accident.

The family had staged a protest outside police commissioner's office on October 25 suspecting murder. Following this, police had formed a special team to investigate the matter.
