The election fever for the non-teaching staff of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) scheduled to be held on January 10 has reached its peak.
Different groups set to participate in the elections conducted their rallies at different places in a bid to show their strength.
The PAU Employees' United Front led by Harbans Singh Mundi alleged that the PAU Employees team led by Paramjeet Singh Gill, that ruled the non-teaching union last year, failed to fulfil the demands of the PAU employees.
However, on the other side, Gill group, who held mass meeting outside biotech department, listed its achievements and asked for votes on the basis of their performance.
Gill said, "It was only after our pressure that the varsity administration released the monthly payments for the non-teaching staff, despite the fact that the varsity's coffers were empty."
Meanwhile, Mundi alleged that the allowances were still unpaid and the hike in the grade pay was pending. The ruling leaders also failed to release the 40% arrears of the varsity employees.
