Days after finding itself into controversy, Free Kasol café owner Sesi Devi on Sunday refuted allegations of denying entry to Indians in her café.
Controversy had erupted when complaints against the café surfaced on the social media prompting the authorities to order a quick inquiry into the matter on August 18.
Preliminary investigation conducted by Kullu assistant superintendent of police (ACP) Nishchint Singh Negi reported that no such discrimination was being observed against Indians in the café, though it only served Israeli food items.
Later, Kullu deputy commissioner (DC) Rakesh Kanwar handed over the inquiry report to sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Rohit Rathore to look in to the matter.
According to sources, inquiry observed that such allegations were not found true and Indians were visiting the café as usual.
In August, two posts surfaced on Facebook alleging that a man at the cafe refused to serve Indians and claimed that the establishment was open only to members. The cafe is mostly frequented by Israeli tourists, who visit Kasol in large numbers throughout the year.
Stefan Kaye, a British musician based in Delhi, wrote on Facebook that he was given a menu when he visited the cafe during his tour at Kasol, while his companion, an Indian woman, was not served because of her nationality. When Kaye accused the cafe's owner of blatant discrimination, he responded that he could do whatever he wanted at his establishment.
