The SGPC took note of the shrine’s photographs after these appeared on the website of a US-based company. The site clearly shows imprints of the Golden Temple on socks and footwear manufactured by the company.

In a statement issued in Amritsar on Sunday, SGPC additional secretary Daljit Singh Bedi said SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has demanded that the US administration should take immediate action against the company for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community. He has also demanded that the entire stock of the company, that is the footwear and socks on which the photographs of the Sikh shrine have been printed, should be confiscated.

“Not just the stock should be confiscated, but the photographs of the manufactured products of the company (socks and footwear) with the imprint of the Golden Temple should be taken off the company’s website,” he added.
