A major reshuffle in the management of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is expected, as the process is on to select a Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) member and finalise three power corporation directors.

The three-member selection committee plans to meet on August 3 to pick the PSERC member. PSPCL director (commercial) Surinder Pal and retired general manager RP Pandove are among the 37 contenders for this post that was advertised in November 2014. A legal notice had asked the Punjab government to be quick with filling this post so that the selection of PSPCL directors could be taken up.

The director's posts were advertised last year but only director (generation) has, so far, been appointed (in October last year) against a vacant post. The other directors continue to work on extension until further orders. The PSPCL chairman-cum-managing-director (CMD) was also asked to continue until further orders after his term expired in February.

At present, the charge of the CMD of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) is with the PSPCL's director of finance, a post that will fall vacant in September. The post of director (human resource) has been vacant for a long time.
