A favourite with top Mohali policemen, including the SSP and some DSPs, Ozi Gym and Spa in phase 8, Mohali, where Gurmeet Kaur, 54, was found drowned in an indoor swimming pool on Wednesday, had been the scene of a mysterious death last year too. The body of a man named Satish, suspected by the police to have been murdered, had then been recovered from the gym’s elevator shaft.
No headway was made in that case.
Gurmeet Kaur’s body was found floating in the pool after she had reportedly swum two laps and the police booked Anil Prasher (misspelt Anil Prashit in the FIR) holding a stake of just 2.5% in the gym and trainer Manjit Singh for negligence. The case was registered on the complaint of Harminder Singh, husband of the deceased.
Case of murder
Satish’s body was found in the gym last year on March 15. From Fatehabad in Haryana and aged around 25, he had planned to go with his friends Anand and Pawan Kumar for a movie at a Kharar but stopped for a while at the top floor of the gym to play cards with two others identified as Subhash and Deepak.
According to the FIR, Subhash had asked Satish to use the lift (for reasons not specified in the FIR) but he was not seen anywhere near it. A few hours his body was found in the elevator shaft and when taken to Ivy Hospital in Mohali doctors said Satish had died.

{{/usCountry}}A special investigation team was constituted on the direction of SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal and a case of 304 (a) (death due to negligence) was registered in May 2017 against unidentified persons on the basis of a complaint lodged by Satish’s brother Pritam Singh on April 13, 2017.
“It has been more than one year since Satish was killed but nothing has been done. The police so far has not been able to identify the accused,” Pritam said on phone to HT.
Complaining that he had met police officials a number of times and had been assured of action, Pritam is sure his brother had been murdered. “We did not get his purse and shoes. The data of his phone was deleted,” is all that he can say.
