The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday night suspended its local leader Kishan Lal Sharma for he had levelled serious allegations against Jalandhar (Central) MLA and former minister Manoranjan Kalia. Sharma had accused Kalia of sheltering the accused involved in the murder of Manpreet Singh Manu, 20, who was killed by a group of over 20 armed people at Guru Nanak Pura East locality on Wednesday.
Kalia, along with Jalandhar (North) MLA and chief parliamentary secretary KD Bhandari; district president Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Mohinder Bhagat, son of cabinet minister Chuni Lal Bhagat; Mayor Sunil Jyoti and others, addressed the media at 8pm, soon after Kishan Lal Sharma ended his press conference at Guru Nanak Pura West.
During the press conference, Kalia got emotional and broke down several times, vehemently rejecting the allegations and vowing to file a defamation case against Sharma. He was well supported by all those present.
“In my entire life, I have thought of such petty politics that a person from the own party will level false allegations againstme,” Kalia said.
Kalia and others also showed some pictures, showing Sharma roaming with Gurmeet Singh Aulakh, cousin of Balraj Singh Aulakh alias Raju, who is the main accused in Manpreet murder case.
District BJP president Ramesh Sharma said party would not tolerate such a behaviour and this amounted to anti-party activities.

{{/usCountry}}Kishan Lal Sharma had also alleged that BJP youth leader Lucky’s brother had thrashed one Rakesh of Guru Nanak Pura West on May 22, but police didn’t take action against the accused at Kalia’s behest. He also alleged that Qazi Mandi, Guru Nanak Pura, and Chuggiti areas had become drug havens and Kalia was responsible for the same. Sharma and his supporters had even raised slogans against Kalia at the press conference.
