JE suicide: Court rejects anticipatory bail plea of three accused

The court of additional session judge Gurjant Singh on Monday rejected anticipatory bail applications of three accused officials, booked for abetting suicide of junior engineer Harbhajan Singh.

The court of additional session judge Gurjant Singh on Monday rejected anticipatory bail applications of three accused officials, booked for abetting suicide of junior engineer Harbhajan Singh.

Bail applications of the accused officials including district development & panchayat officer (DDPO) Sarabjit Singh Walia, BDPO Bhagwan Singh and SDO Navdeep Singh were rejected.

Earlier, City Police obtained arrest warrant of the officials from court and conducting raids to nab the accused, who are still reportedly absconding.

“Now there is no option left with the accused, except surrendering as departmental action against them is also imminent”, police said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Parneet Bhardwaj said that the issue of departmental action against the accused officials would be brought to the notice of deputy commissioner on Tuesday for appropriate action.

It is pertinent to mention here that on January 25 Harbhajan Singh employed with BDPO office (West) committed suicide in his office, leaving suicide note holding three senior officials for creating circumstances forcing him to take the extreme step.

Apart from leaving the note, the deceased had also written names of the accused officials on the wall of the room, in which he took committed suicide, sources said.
