Khalistani terrorist Jagtar Singh alias Tara, who was arrested from Thailand in January and was lodged in the Phillaur jail, Jalandhar, was remanded in four-day police custody by the court of duty magistrate Raman Kumar here on Monday.
Earlier, Tara was brought by the district police on transit remand from the Phillaur police to be produced in the court.
Tara will again be produced in the court on February 13. The prosecution had sought seven-day custody to interrogate him.
Bathinda SSP Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti said that Tara is to be interrogated in connection with the arrest of another Khalistani terrorist Ramandeep Singh alias Sunny, a resident of Bathinda.
He said that the district police, by interrogating Tara, will further corroborate the revelations made by Sunny about having undergone arms training in Thailand during his interrogation. Police sources revealed that both Tara and Sunny might be brought face to face for interrogation.
The district police had arrested Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Sunny in November last year in Bathinda and recovered a .32- bore revolver, a handmade bomb and letter pads of BKI from Sunny's possession.
During interrogation, Sunny had also revealed that he was contacted by Tara through a fake Facebook profile and he he was provided money by Tara's associates in Europe with which he went to Thailand where Tara had received him and he was provided training in making of weapons and bombs there. Tara's arrest in January in Thailand had substantiated the revelations made by Sunny to a greater extent.

{{/usCountry}}In a joint operation of central agencies and the Thai police, Tara was arrested in January in Thailand and was brought to the country. Tara has been sentenced to life term in case of assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh in 1995. Tara was a member of Babbar Khalsa at the time of the assassination and later he had joined Khalistan Tiger Force.
